Summary |
1 | North Carolina Fusion U23 |
Last Week: 1 |
2-0-0 Week 4: @ West Virginia United |
They came in as our preseason Number 1 and haven’t given us any reason to believe they shouldn’t be here. Joao Gomeiro has FIVE goals in only 180 minutes, and he’s only taken 8 shots. They pounded a good Tobacco Road FC team 7-2. NC Fusion U-23 is for real, and they’ll hope this hot start is indicative of what’s to come. |
2 | Des Moines Menace |
Last Week: 2 |
2-0-0 Week 4: @ Peoria City |
After a little bit of sweating in Week 1, and a tied score at half against St. Croix SC in Week 2, Des Moines had a fire lit under them and scored as many goals in 45 minutes (four) as they did in the previous 135. Ryley Kraft has been a wizard for the defending champions, and the electrifying goal by Fernando Garcia can’t be ignored. If the second half against St. Croix SC is any indication, the Menace are primed to be a force. |
3 | Kalamazoo FC |

Last Week: 6 |
3-0-0 Week 4: @ AFC Ann Arbor @ Flint City Bucks |
We’re not sure any team has started off more electric than Kalamazoo FC. They’ve scored seven goals in three games, and they’ve allowed none. A narrow win in Week 1 wasn’t extremely flattering, but the 4-0 and 2-0 wins that followed were. They have a date with two teams in our Top 10 that will assess their level. |
4 | Asheville City SC |
Not Ranked | 2-0-0 Week 4: @ South Georgia Tormenta FC |
The South Central division is not easy. Asheville have thrown the first punch, beating One Knoxville on their home turf before putting three past Dalton Red Wolves in their home opener. There isn’t much opportunity for their schedule to slow up, either. Away dates with South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 and Tri-Cities Otters await them. As of now, though, they’re winning tough games to fly up these standings. |
5 | Project 51O |
Not Ranked | 3-0-0 Week 4: vs. San Francisco Glens FC |
The affiliate of the Oakland Roots in USL Championship has started extremely well this season. Seven goals scored, only one conceded, and keeper Timothy Syrel got an immediate call-up to the Roots, saving two shots in his debut at the top level. They still have yet to play San Francisco Glens SC, Southern California Seahorses, Ventura County Fusion and FC Golden State Force, but they’re on a good track to win the division. |
6 | West Virginia United |

Last Week: 21 |
2-0-0 Week 4: vs North Carolina FC U23 vs North Carolina Fusion |
West Virginia United are averaging six scored goals through their first two matches, which, if they kept it up, would be a league record. We wouldn’t even have to look through the book. They have an extremely tough matchup with our Number 1 team, NC Fusion U-23, on May 28th, their first of three battles against the top side. This will be a series to watch as the season continues. |
7 | AFC Ann Arbor |
Not Ranked | 2-0-0 Week 4: vs. Kalamazoo FC @ Oakland County FC |
A resounding victory over Oakland County opened their season, but they had to battle past Lansing City Football, edging that win 3-2. Three points are three points, however, and AFC Ann Arbor have stepped up and gotten them at every chance they’ve had so far. The road only gets more difficult from here – a match against Kalamazoo FC is their next test. |
8 | Flint City Bucks |
2
Last Week: 10 |
1-0-0 Week 4: @ Midwest United FC vs. Kalamazoo FC |
Possibly League Two’s most storied program, this season is starting exactly as Flint City want it to – a dominant 4-0 win at home over Lansing City Football. Up next is an away day against Midwest United before a clash against last season’s stumbling block – Kalamazoo FC. The winner of that series will be in pole position for the Great Lakes Division. |
9 | Peoria City |
Not Ranked | 2-0-1 Week 4: vs. Des Moines Menace |
Peoria City weren’t on our Kickoff Top 25 at all. After three weeks, they’re sitting atop the Deep North Division after defeating St. Croix and Minneapolis City, drawing with the Crows in the reverse match. The Deep North Division still runs through Des Moines – but Peoria City may fight them for it. |
10 | Capital FC |
7
Last Week: 3 |
1-0-0 Week 4: vs PDX FC @ Lane United FC |
The Western Conference is difficult to judge, as teams in the Northwest and Mountain Divisions have only played one game. But Capital FC is off to a good start, winning their first match against a pretty good Oly Town FC squad, if only by a single goal. They’ll look to assert themselves when they play the likes of Ballard and OVF Alliance as the season progresses. |
