OAKLAND, Calif. – Oakland Roots SC announced on Friday it had signed 18-year-old goalkeeper Timothy Syrel to a USL Academy contract for the 2022 USL Championship season. Syrel had previously joined Project 51O – Oakland’s squad in USL League Two – ahead of the start of its season this month.
“Timothy is someone who we brought into 51O this spring and has impressed us with his presence and work ethic from day one,” said Roots Technical Director Jordan Ferell. “We are really excited for his new opportunity to continue growing within the first team environment.”
