Covington, KY (May 16, 2022) - The second matches for Kings Hammer FC's USL W League and USL League Two teams were flipped from the season openers - W League played their home opener and USL2 played their first away match. Unfortunately, the women saw the exact same result and scoreline as they did in the inaugural match by falling 1-3 and to an 0-0-2 record. The men were able to rebound with a 2-1 win over Fort Wayne FC, to move their record to 1-0-1 on the season.

KHFC v. AFC Ann Arbor - 1-3

It was the only W League game on Friday May 13 in the whole League. While the first half was played very closely, mainly due to the play of KHFC goalkeeper Mickayla Kowalski, who tallied four big saves to keep it 0-0 at the whistle; it as the second half that was the biggest difference.

Angeline Kieh had a goal and an assist, while Lin Berrah and Tatiana added the other goals, and Chloe Ricketts added an assist for AFC Ann Arbor's attack where they scored three goals in the final 20 minutes of the match to take the three points. Summer Denigan tallied her first KHFC goal in her first appearance, which helped cut the 0-2 deficit to 1-2 with six minutes left in the match. But, Kieh's goal in the 88' was enough to put the game away for good.

The AFC Ann Arbor attack was potent, as they rattled off a 13-5 shot advantage. Fortunately for KHFC, a crossbar saved them possibly conceding another goal as Ann Arbor blasted one off late looking for a three-goal win.

Fort Wayne FC v. KHFC - 1-2

Another Valley Division matchup between the two, as each shared the others' home opener. Fort Wayne FC was able to knock off KHFC at home 0-1, and KHFC was able to get the points in Fort Wayne on Sunday May 15 at 2-1. Another scrappy match where five yellow cards were given, similarly to the first one that saw six cautions.

Sam Robinson continued his hot start to the season, as he drew the penalty kick that was eventually calmly converted by Marcello Jones in the 26'. Robinson got into the position nicely from a little slipped pass from Jones, who have been teammates for several years. As the match was back-and-forth for much of the first half and second half, the steamy Sunday afternoon surely caused problems for the players on the pitch.

Fort Wayne did not let the heat get to them too much, as they were able to equalize in the 56' to give the raucous home crowd a little more to cheer for. A critical substitution in the 63', Taylor Dyson had a little combination with the defenders, but then knocked a ball over the to of the Fort Wayne defense. Robinson and Dyson's connection caught the back line and goalkeeper off, and Robinson was able to coolly finish for a 2-1 lead in the 73'.

The goals were both Jones' and Robinson's first of the season, and Dyson's first assist of the season. With Jones and Robinson playing for KHFC in the inaugural 2021 year, Jones now has three career KHFC goals and Robinson has two.
