Tampa, Fla. & SHREVEPORT, La. - The United Soccer League (USL) today announced Blue Goose Soccer Club as the latest club to join USL League Two. The Louisiana-based club will compete in League Two’s Mid-South Division beginning in the 2022 season.

“USL League Two gives us a platform to grow, a platform for our players to be on the path to professional achievement and a platform to tell the nation that we are committed to achieving something great in Northwest Louisiana,” Said Blue Goose Head Coach and Sporting Director, Will Awagu. “I’m excited to be joining League Two and coaching at this level.  I hope to shine a light on the talent in this region and give our community something to be proud of.”

Founded in 2021, Blue Goose Soccer Club is aimed at growing the soccer landscape in Northwest Louisiana, which honors the area’s rich musical and cultural influences in America. The club’s mission is to grow the game of soccer by uniting people, community, family and friends together through teamwork, dedication and success.

The club plans to be involved in the community through fan experiences, a team merchandise outpost and other touch points.  Aside from his role with Blue Goose, Awagu is very in the local soccer community as the Director of Coaching for Elite Soccer, a youth club located in Shreveport/Bossier City.
In joining League Two, Blue Goose SC will offer a tried and tested pathway to professional soccer for its players, both those at the elite collegiate level and the top academy-age players in the greater Shreveport/Bossier City area. On top of the valuable experience of playing in the nation’s most competitive pre-professional environment, League Two also provides growth opportunities for its coaches, executives, and communities.

“We’re delighted to see Blue Goose SC represent another community in Louisiana within League Two after welcoming LA Krewe before the new year,” said USL Vice President of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties, Joel Nash. “Will and his team have a proven track record of bringing the beautiful game to Shreveport and the surrounding communities, and we’re looking forward to watching them build something special beginning in 2022.”
