MIAMI- The United Soccer League today announced Miami AC as the latest club to join both the USL W League and USL League Two for the 2022 season.

“We are excited to join the USL W League and USL League Two,” said Mayowa Owolabi, President of Miami AC. “Miami Athletic Club (MAC) was created to provide players with the most professional opportunity and access to develop and grow a love for the beautiful game. With that said, our goals are larger than just developing the next professional athlete but also to grow the next first class citizens in the country and find a way to impact the local communities in many ways on and off the field.”

Founded in 2021, Miami AC was established with a mission to impact the game by developing first class athletes and citizens both on and off the pitch. The club aims to provide a constant learning environment that develops soccer players to their fullest athletic, educational, and social potential regardless of gender, physical abilities or background. “The addition of a USL League Two and W League team is another great step forward for our club but more specifically for our players within our youth program!”, continued Owolabi. “These programs now provide our youngest players with role models and true examples of what professionalism and hard work can create. We are proud to provide playing opportunities for top male and female college and high school players in our professional environment.”

Miami AC seeks to make soccer accessible and enjoyable for all players in the greater Miami area. The club prides itself on its diverse coaching staff and internationally recognized product, providing its members with a player centric learning environment that delivers on superior coaching, elite training facilities, quality equipment and a sense of community. Members of the Miami AC community recognize the commitment the club is making to providing accessible player programs and volunteer opportunities that are a reflection of the club's intention to grow the game of soccer in the United States.

Through its membership in the W League, Miami AC establishes a commitment to growing the women’s game in the Miami region by giving players direct access to pre-professional careers in soccer. The club will also see the benefits of the USL’s fully formed women’s pathway, which offers playing, coaching and fan opportunities at all levels from youth to pro.

“Today, we celebrate the entrance of Miami AC to the W League,” said Betsy Haugh, USL Director of Women’s Soccer. “Miami AC is a club that has established a mission that stretches beyond the pitch. The club fosters an environment that focuses on both personal and professional growth within the game and we hope that the W League will be able to help further that development for athletes in Miami and its surrounding cities.”

In addition, Miami AC will compete in League Two’s Southeast Division during the 2022 season. In joining League Two, the club will establish a tried and tested pathway to the men’s professional realm for players both at the elite collegiate level and top academy level.

“Miami AC will be a strong addition to a competitive Southeast Division in USL League Two during the 2022 season,” said Joel Nash, USL Vice President of Youth & Pre-Professional. “We are thrilled to see a club with international pedigree join our men’s pre-professional platform and hope that League Two will provide its members avenues for growth and development within the game.”
