TAMPA, Fla.- This year, USL League Two announced the addition of 24 new Path2Pro clubs, with four of those clubs joining the league’s Southern Conference. With only a couple of weeks left until the start of a new year, the league reminisces on the accomplishments of the 2021 expansion teams both on and off the pitch.
As the pride and joy of Asheville City SC, the South Slope Blues have proven to be one of the rowdiest and dedicated supporters groups in USL League Two. However, in the month of June, the South Slope Blues stepped up their game in a major way to support the community beyond the pitch. In an effort to raise funds for the The Campaign for Southern Equality (CSE), an organization working to build a south where LGBTQ people are equal in every part of life, the loyal supporters group launched the 2021 Prideraiser. This annual South Slope Blues tradition asks supporters to pledge money for every goal scored in the month of June by Asheville City SC’s senior teams to support CSE and its mission. This year, the club and its supporters raised $7,154 thanks to 13 goals scored on the pitch in eight matches and the donations of local community partners.
