FC Tucson ended its 2021 season by hosting an awards ceremony at Charro Del Rey, the official caterer of the USL League One club.

Five awards were given out to players, recognizing their work on and off the field. Two awards were given to front office staff to spotlight their work and dedication throughout the historic season. 

Newcomer of the Year

Luca Mastrantonio earns the Newcomer of the Year honors this season. He played a vital role in defense this season with 61 clearances, ten blocks and winning 69 of his total 112 duels. 

Mastrantonio also grabbed his first professional goal this season after heading in a cross from Dennis against Fort Lauderdale CF on September 11. He finished the season with two goals. 

Mastrantonio was also a staple in the community, appearing at events throughout the season such as Tucson Meet Yourself, Desert View High School and various clinics. 

Defensive MVP

Noah Franke earns the honors of Defensive MVP for the 2021 season. Franke was a staple in defense this season with 28 appearances and 2,456 total minutes played, the most of any outfield player. 

Franke had 21 chances created, four assists and 82 percent passing accuracy this season. He also racked up 49 interceptions, 32 clearances and won 33 of his total 46 tackles this season. 

Franke was honored by the league with two appearances on the USL League One Team of the Week presented by Cleer Audio. 

Offensive MVP

Charlie Dennis earns the honors of Offensive MVP for the 2021 season. This comes off the heels of a historic season for the club where they made it to the semifinals of the USL League One Playoffs presented by TwinSpires.

Dennis lead the team with ten goals, eight assists and 45 chances created. He also had 18 shots on goal and a 78 percent passing accuracy. 

Dennis was a staple in the midfield guiding the team to its best finish in the league. He was honored by the league by appearing on the USL League One Team of the Week presented by Cleer Audio eight times.

Fuerza Tucson Award

Wallis Lapsley earns the Fuerza Tucson Award for the 2021 season. This award is given to a player who most exemplifies the spirit of Tucson and what it means to represent the community.

Lapsley was a constant face in the community attending events throughout the season and interacting with fans at every chance. He started every game this season and helped the team reach the semifinals in USL League One. 

2021 Player of the Year Award

Kaelon Fox has been awarded the 2021 Player of the Year Award for his work on and off the field. 

Fox captained the team from the backline, leading the team to its been finish in USL League One history. He had 31 interceptions, 19 blocks, and won 18 out of 25 tackles this season. He also led the team with 104 clearances. 

Off the field, Fox attended many community events, clinics, and meet and greets making a positive impact within the Tucson community. 

Founders Award

The Founders Award is presented to the member of the staff who best embodies the spirit of the club and carries on the legacy established by the club's founders in 2011.

This year's Founders Award went to Alan Villasenor. Villasenor is an Account Executive with the club and is a Tucson native. A fixture at the club's Watch Parties for away games, Villasenor has worked tirelessly to connect the club with the community, appearing at events such as the Mexican Baseball Fiesta as well as organizing FC Tucson's street team to engage in community outreach.

Pinnacle Award

The Pinnacle Award is given to the member of the club whose work and contributions throughout the year consistently elevated FC Tucson.

This year's Pinnacle Award went to William Olguin. Olguin is the club's Creative Director and oversees all graphic and design projects -- in digital, print and video. In addition to the FC Tucson billboards seen throughout Tucson, Olguin was the driving force behind the club's popular game day posters with his eye-catching art work.
