Louisiana Krewe FC becomes first club to join the Mid South Division out of the Pelican state

LAFAYETTE, La. - The United Soccer League (USL) today announced Louisiana Krewe FC as the latest club to join USL League Two. The Louisiana-based club will compete in the Mid South Division in 2022 and is the first club to join League Two out of Louisiana.

“The addition of our first club out of Louisiana speaks to the continued growth of our men’s pre-professional league” said Joel Nash, Vice President of USL League Two. “The leadership of Louisiana Krewe and their vision for holistic player development aligns with the mission of League Two in providing players an elite platform for growth within the game. We are excited to see what this club will accomplish during the 2022 season.”

Louisiana Krewe FC was founded in 2019 with the mission of providing a pathway from amateur grassroots soccer to the professional game for all aspiring young soccer players in the state of Louisiana. The club consciously places emphasis on roots in Louisiana, modeling its on field product and coaching staff off of the state’s diverse melting pot culture, which brings community members from all different backgrounds together to celebrate the game of soccer.

Through the direction of its elite coaching staff, the club’s primary focus is holistic player development of both homegrown talent and international talent.

With only three years of play under its belt, the club has seen major success both on and off the pitch. In the 2021 season alone, Louisiana Krewe’s men’s senior team captured three cups thanks to its attack-based style of play.

“In the short existence of the club, the Krewe has experienced success both on and off the field,” said Head Coach Joan Oliva. “When the club was formed, leadership made the commitment to never settle for the status quo. We want to continue growing and being challenged and we feel the move to USL League Two will provide that. League Two will provide a professional pathway that will put our club and soccer in Lafayette, Louisiana in the right direction.”

In joining League Two, Louisiana Krewe FC will offer a proven pathway to professional soccer for its players, both those at the elite collegiate level and the top academy-age players in the greater Lafayette area. On top of the valuable experience of playing in the nation’s most competitive pre-professional environment, League Two also provides growth opportunities for its coaches, executives and communities.
