South Georgia Tormenta FC has named Ian Cameron head coach of its USL League One team, effective immediately, the club announced Wednesday afternoon. Cameron was previously the head coach of Tormenta FC 2 in USL League Two.

“Congratulations to Ian Cameron who will now take on the role of Head Coach for our USL League One team,” Tormenta FC Owner and President Darin Van Tassell said. “John brought Ian to our franchise to ensure that as the franchise grew - and his role would evolve - that our top team would always have a great coach. Ian Cameron is that coach, leader and winner. We look forward to his success and winning championships as he oversees the development of our teams in League One and League Two.”

Cameron joined the Tormenta FC organization in 2019. The Glasgow, Scotland native led Tormenta FC 2 to a 10-2-2 record and helped the club win its first USL League Two Southern Conference title last summer. Cameron has served as an assistant coach for the League One side during the 2020 season.

Prior to joining the South Georgia club’s staff, Cameron served as head coach at Eckerd College for four seasons, where he compiled a 22-31-6 record. He currently holds a UEFA C License and is working towards his UEFA B License.
