Coach Lewis Wilcox put a lot of time into working with the keepers in today’s training session. The shot blocker’s main focuses, according to Cooper Erickson, were their grip on the ball when catching a save, knee placement when performing a diving save, foot movement, and powering through the ball. Wilcox was able to implement a competitive environment between all three goalkeepers with numerous drills.

The remainder of the team focused on agility and small sided games. They started with a 4-station agility warm-up. Each station focused on different areas of agility. These areas were coordination, footwork, and change of direction. They then transitioned into a 4v4 small sided game with 4 bumpers on the outside. To end the session, the team opened up to a 7v7 scrimmage. The main focus of this scrimmage was to attack with numbers moving forward and combination of play.

To wrap up the session, Coach Elliot Prost stated, “we saw some really good things in today’s training session. We need to continue to work hard and stay focused”. The Rush will be back tomorrow with a player position focused training session.
