Lakewood, Colo - Three weeks in and Colorado Rush wrap up a competitive week of training. Goalkeeper Cooper Erickson reflected on this week’s training sessions and spoke about how the coaching staff incorporated some fitness throughout the week. Erickson mentioned that, “I feel as though this is the first week where mentality has been there for the majority of the week and we looked really good, so I’m super excited.” This excitement is displayed not only in Erickson, but with the entire team as we were able to see some highly competitive battles this week.

With high anticipation, coach Elliot Prost and Lewis Wilcox focus their training sessions on testing the player’s fitness and abilities in game-like scenarios. Forward Emman Rahimi stated that, “I felt a lot of the focus of today’s training session was agility and some small sided games toward the end. We had to learn how to play through the fatigue.” As the Rush are still in their early stages of the summer season, this is where the mental game will play a huge factor moving forward. The coaching staff have done a great job testing and developing each individual, pushing everyone throughout the first three weeks of training.

At the end of training, coach Prost had some encouraging words stating that, “we’re only three weeks in, and still in the early stages of our preseason. Obviously there’s not really a season right now, but if you think about the bigger picture, three weeks is still relatively early. Keep working hard, stay committed, and keep coming to training. It’s really fun for Lewis and I to be able to work with this group and I hope you’re all enjoying it.” Although games are uncertain right now, it’s the professional training environment and the players that continue to come out with a great attitude. With talented prospects from all over the world coming together, the level and environment is creating a special buzz within the Colorado Rush.
