Which League Two alumni do you think will be picked first?

The 2020 MLS SuperDraft is just three days away, and this is your chance to have your say. Imagine you are in charge of the draft for your favorite MLS team. Given that over 70 percent of MLS draft picks from the last decade have League Two playing experience, your best bet is likely to pick a player from the Path2Pro.

Now your team is on the clock. Which player at each position are you picking first? Voting is open until Wednesday.

FORWARDS

  • Garett McLaughlin (OKC Energy U23) - The SMU striker had a stellar season, scoring 16 goals in 21 games, including five in a single match against Cincinnati.
  • Miguel Berry (Orange County SC U23) - Berry’s efficiency saw him shoot up MLS draft boards, as he bagged 17 goals in 18 starts as a senior for University of San Diego.
  • Nebojsa Popovic (Flint City Bucks) - Popovic racked up 10 goals and four assists for Michigan, and is a highly-touted prospect at the forward position.
  • Jack Skahan (North Carolina FC U23) - Skahan is a versatile attacker, able to play as a winger and drop deeper and play an attacking midfield role. He was a key cog in UNC’s offense, recording three goals and five assists.
  • Daryl Dike (OKC Energy U23) - Dike combines physical gifts with tremendous positional awareness, making him an appealing draft choice for many MLS clubs. He was one of the most important players for Virginia in the Cavaliers’ run to the College Cup Final.

MIDFIELDERS

  • Aaron Molloy (Reading United) - The 2018 League Two Top Prospect, Molloy has backed up the hype for two seasons and is ready to make the jump to professional soccer after an excellent career at Penn State.
  • Manuel Ferriol (Long Island Rough Riders) - Ferriol burst onto the scene with one of the most impressive seasons of any midfielder in all of college soccer. The do-it-all midfielder scored 16 goals and assisted on six more, dominating in CAA play.
  • Jesus Perez (Chicago FC United) - A skilled #10, Perez could make an immediate impact as a creator for any MLS team, as he did during his college career at UIC.
  • Jeremy Kelly (North Carolina FC U23) - Kelly’s strength is his versatility. The UNC Chapel Hill product can play as an outside back, center back, or defensive midfielder, helping him fill in many potential roles on an MLS side.
  • Brandon Williamson (Wake FC) - Williamson is cut from the cloth of the modern central midfielder, skilled on the ball and adept at breaking lines with his passing. The former Duke Blue Devil is likely to be a first round pick.

Defenders

  • Jack Maher (Saint Louis FC U23) - Plenty of mock drafts have Inter Miami taking Maher with the first overall pick in the draft, and few would be surprised to see the Indiana product be taken as one of the top selections.
  • Dylan Nealis (Long Island Rough Riders) - Nealis was a key piece in Georgetown’s national championship season. He’s not only as a solid defender, but showed his ability to get forward as well, tallying four goals and five assists.
  • Henry Kessler (AC Connecticut) - At 6’4”, Kessler’s size gives him the tools to be a pro-ready center back from day one. A mainstay in Virginia’s backline this season, he’s high on many MLS teams’ radars.
  • Tanner Beason (San Francisco City FC) - The Stanford product won this season’s Pac 12 Defensive Player of the Year Award for good reason, as the Cardinal defense conceded less than one goal per game with Beason on the field.
  • Patrick Nielsen (Flint City Bucks) - The Copenhagen native stands at 6’4” and has the physical tools to battle with forwards at the next level. After winning a League Two title with Flint last season, Nielsen had an impressive senior campaign at Michigan State.

GOALKEEPERS

  • Wallis Lapsley (Des Moines Menace) - Lapsley was a captain and leader at UC Davis this season, keeping nine clean sheets in 20 appearances between the posts for the Aggies. He posted a 0.63 goals against average, catching the eye of MLS scouts.
  • Remi Prieur (Portland Timbers U23) - Prieur kept 11 clean sheets for St. Mary’s this year, using his agility and mobility to make an impressive array of saves. He made five consecutive starts without conceding a goal in one particularly impressive stretch.
  • Simon Lefebvre (Reading United) - The towering Frenchman stands at 6’9” and is an imposing figure in goal, helping Reading United reach the League Two Final in 2019 before posting some impressive performances in his senior season at Temple.
  • Andrew Thomas (San Francisco City FC) - Thomas made highlight reels when he saved every single penalty kick he faced to earn Stanford a shootout win. He’s impressed US youth national team and MLS scouts alike.
