These five defenders are among the most talented prospects in the nation

The 2019 League Two 20 Under 20 List highlights the most exciting young prospects in the league. Five players from each of the four positions were selected to the list and one position will be announced per week, beginning on October 2 with goalkeepers and continuing with defenders on October 9, midfielders, and forwards. Players born on or after January 1, 1999 are eligible for the list.

These five young defenders have promising futures in front of them, having already shown plenty of ability and intelligence beyond their years in keeping out opposing forwards.

1

Daniel Strachan

Tormenta FC 2 | Age: 20

Strachan logged over 1,000 minutes at the heart of one of the best League Two defenses, helping Tormenta 2 to a Southern Conference title. The Akron junior is poised to have an excellent career.

2

Adam Armour

North Carolina FC U23 | Age: 17

Having only recently turned 17, Armour has already signed an academy contract with the North Carolina FC first team while appearing six times for their U23 side in League Two action. Armour was called up to participate in a U.S. U17 national team camp in July.

3

Javain Brown

Treasure Coast Tritons | Age: 20

The USF sophomore spent his summer with Treasure Coast, where he played nearly 500 minutes for the Tritons. Only 20-years-old, Brown has already appeared for the Jamaican national team and played for Harbour View FC in his native Kingston.

4

Carlo Ritaccio

Long Island Rough Riders | Age: 19

Only 19-years-old, Ritaccio has already played for two League Two teams and partners with Strachan to form a fearsome Zips defense. Ritaccio’s ceiling is high and it will be interesting to see how he continues to develop in the coming years.

5

Kyle Ferguson

SC United Bantams | Age: 20

Ferguson was voted the League Two Young Player of the Year for his efforts in making the Bantams’ defense so tough to score on, and the young Scot continues to impress as a fixture in the Lander College backline.
