Blake Mullen of Western Mass Pioneers has been named the 2019 USL League Two Golden Glove award winner. The Golden Glove is calculated using multiple statistics and given to the best goalkeeper in the league over the course of the season, with a minimum of 10 games played needed for consideration.

“[Mullen] was definitely the backbone of our entire defense, which played superbly all summer long. His size and mobility made it awfully tough on opposing teams to get one by him,” said Western Mass Pioneers general manager Greg Kolodziey. “It was so nice to see him have a great season after patiently biding his time last year as our primary backup goalie. He’s such a great kid and has worked hard to get where he is today.”

Mullen anchored a Pioneer defense that allowed only seven goals during the regular season. He was a standout at St. Joseph’s College of Maine, setting the NCAA Men’s Soccer record for consecutive minutes without conceding a goal with a streak of over 1,700 minutes during his junior season. He allowed just one goal that year for an incredible 0.05 goals against average.
