The Seventh edition of the Hank Steinbrecher Cup to be Played this Weekend

The seventh edition of the Hank Steinbrecher Cup will be played out this weekend at the Bavarian Soccer Complex in Glendale, Wisconsin. The annual tournament is hosted by the United States Adult Soccer Association and this year the games will take place Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1.

This year, the competition will feature two USL League Two teams with the two-time defending champions of the Cup, Flint City Bucks, and 2016 Cup winners, Chicago FC United.

The Bucks enter this year's contest as last year’s champions where they successfully defended their title from 2017. Last year they cruised through two 2-0 victories to lift the cup for the second time in their history. Flint City looks to have a decent shot at battling for a three-peat as they face NPSL Runners Up, FC Motown.

Chicago FC United will be a part of the tournament under unique circumstances with last year’s USL League Two (PDL) Champions, Calgary Foothills, could not join as they are located in Canada and the runners-up, Reading United, elected not to participate. The last time Chicago was in this competition they won it 2-1 against Chattanooga FC with help from recent USMNT call up and Chicago Fire midfielder, Djordje Mihailovic. United will face the host team, Milwaukee Bavarian in the semifinals.
