TAMPA, Fla. – The Charlotte Eagles boast the most inclusions in the 2016 PDL All-Eastern Conference Team, as four players represent the South Atlantic Division regular-season winner.

Forward Santiago Moar led the Eagles in goals and headlines a group that includes Cameron Botes, Juan Sanchez and Marco Micaletto.

The PDL’s leading goalscorer, Ocean City Nor’easters forward Chevaughn Walsh, joins Moar as one of the three forwards named to the All-Eastern Conference Team, while Carolina Dynamo goalkeeper Ryan Cretens was voted the East’s best in goal during the 2016 regular season.

All-Conference honors are based solely off regular-season performance, and players were voted on by teams within their respective conference.

PDL All-Eastern Conference Team

GK – Ryan Cretens, Carolina Dynamo: UNC Wilmington’s Cretens played nine games for the Dynamo during the 2016 season, helping the club earn five shutouts. The 20-year-old made 32 saves and recorded a 0.35 goals against average.
D – Cameron Botes, Charlotte Eagles: Lipscomb University’s Botes played all 14 games for the Eagles in 2016, helping the club secure 10 shutouts en route to winning the South Atlantic Division regular-season title.
D – Juan Sanchez, Charlotte Eagles: Pfeiffer University’s Sanchez played 13 games for the Eagles during the regular season, scoring two goals. The 20-year-old defender helped the Eagles record 10 shutouts and finish atop the South Atlantic Division.
D – Marquez Fernandez, Baltimore Bohemians: Fernandez played all 14 games for the Bohemians, scoring one goal. The 23-year-old defender was instrumental for the Bohemians' back line, leading the club to six shutouts in the regular season.
D – Peyton Ericson, South Georgia Tormenta FC: The University of South Carolina’s Ericson appeared in all 14 regular-season games for Tormenta FC. The 20-year-old proved to be one of the leaders on the back line, helping the club earn five shutouts in Tormenta FC’s inaugural season.
M – Arun Basuljevic, New York Red Bulls U23: Georgetown University’s Basuljevic, ranked 13th in the fifth edition of the 2016 PDL Top Prospects list, played all 14 games for the Red Bulls U23 in 2016. The midfielder scored a team-high eight goals and provided a team-high five assists.
M – Marco Micaletto, Charlotte Eagles: Young Harris College’s Micaletto was key for the Eagles’ attack in 2016, providing four assists in 13 games played. The 20-year-old midfielder also scored five goals to see the Eagles win the South Atlantic Division regular-season title.
M – Paul Marie, Reading United AC: Florida International University’s Marie scored a team-high seven goals in 10 games for Reading United. The midfielder also assisted one goal to lead the club to a Mid Atlantic Division regular-season title.
F – Santiago Moar, Charlotte Eagles: Moar, ranked 36th in the latest PDL Top Prospects list, led the Eagles in goals scored with eight. The 22-year-old forward also assisted four goals during the 2016 regular season, helping the Eagles win the South Atlantic Division regular-season title.
F – Chevaughn Walsh, Ocean City Nor’easters: Walsh, ranked second in the recent PDL Top Prospects list, led the PDL in goals scored with 14. The 21-year-old forward also assisted three goals, leading the Nor’easters to a 2016 PDL Playoffs berth.
F – Nathan Regis, Ocean City Nor’easters: Regis led the Eastern Conference in assists with eight during the regular season. The forward also scored six goals, helping the Nor’easters finish second in the Mid Atlantic Division.
